Our story began like this…
Two ambitious young women met while attending college amid the creative and commercial vibrancy surging through late 90’s New York. BSG’s founders, Danya Hejazeh and Liza Rodriguez, shared passions for media and communications and became fast friends.
Upon graduation, Danya cut her marketing teeth on Wall Street. Her success sparked an eight-year adventure through the Middle East, where she managed the marketing and branding of investment funds. Following graduate studies at the Columbia School of Journalism, Liza worked for leading news organizations in New York, Miami and London.
On an autumn afternoon years later, old friends found each other on a bustling Manhattan street. Not an uncommon occurrence, but in this instance, kismet. Professionally, Danya and Liza had each come to a crossroads. After years of working for distinguished financial firms and major networks, our heroines were restless and ready to strike out on their own. Back in New York, at the intersection of preparation and destiny, Black Stag Group was born.
Co-Founder & Managing Director, Branding and Marketing
Danya rocked Dubai’s marketing & PR scene with a rare and powerful combination: brilliant ideas and meticulous execution. A few people have one of these talents, most have neither, but Danya has both. All wrapped up in an infectious, energetic personality. We miss her. Please send her back. If not, hire her for your most important project – you can’t afford not to.
– Richard Dean, Public Speaker, Communications Coach, and Presenter of The Business Breakfast, an award-winning business radio show on Dubai Eye 103.8
Danya is a vibrant and creative marketing professional with exacting professional standards and a strong eye for detail. With boundless energy and enthusiasm brought to each engagement she is working on, Danya is a pleasure to work with.
– Edward Allely, former Chief Executive Officer, Gulf Finance
Before launching Black Stag Group in 2013, Danya Hejazeh had more than 13 years of experience working for a range of public and private clients across the globe. She has overseen the branding, rebranding and launching of dozens of companies, initiatives and products throughout North America, the Middle East and North Africa, at institutions such as Gulf Finance and Natixis Global Asset Management.
Among Danya’s marketing successes was the launch of IDFC, Natixis’s first Indian Equities Fund. As a result of targeted launch events, media commentary and PR opportunities, the fund was able to generate inflows far exceeding the organization’s most optimistic projections. The sought after marketing strategist has planned and executed numerous marketing programs and events ranging from SME social media strategies to launch parties with 700+ person guest lists.
Prior to her focus on branding, marketing and PR, Danya worked as a television journalist and commentator. While based in Dubai, she co-hosted and produced City Women, a daytime talk show, on City 7 Television. The highly rated program focused on women’s issues and global current events.
Danya studied Marketing Strategies and Public Relations at the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College. She holds BA’s in Literature, Political Science and Media & Communications from Hunter College. Danya is fluent in English and Arabic.
